Selling good looking and capable cars is important to us here at Freehold Subaru. However, we also care a lot about customer safety. Last week we blogged about how you can maintain your new Subaru to help ensure safe travels. Coming in for regular service and knowing how to fix a tire are crucial, but if you get into a collision you want to know that your vehicle will protect you.
No one wants to imagine getting in a crash, but they do happen. Our customers are always pleased to know that the 2014 Subaru Outback earned top safety ratings from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS is known for their tests that get more rigorous every year, but Subaru's engineers came to the challenge ready to dominate.
Tests that vehicles went through were the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats. The ratings are Good, Acceptable, Marginal, and Poor. This year the vehicles also had to take on the small overlap front. This test used to be optional and mimics the impact of clipping another car or telephone pole head on.
This test was particularly challenging for many brands, and the Outback scored an Acceptable, which is still good.
With the Outback you'll also have Eyesight technology that will warn of a imminent collision and apply the brakes if you cannot. This crash prevention technology placed the Outback on the Top Safety Pick+ list (high-performing vehicles without crash prevention are placed on the Top Safety Picky list).
