2017 Subaru Forester Trim Levels

The 2017 Subaru Forester aims to please all types of buyers by providing a wide range of available trims and configurations.

Engine Configurations

The 2017 Subaru Forester comes with the choice of either a manual transmission or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and two engine options. The engine choices available are the standard 170 horsepower 2.5L flat-four engine and the available 250 horsepower 2.0L turbocharged flat-four engine.

Owners who wish to have a manual transmission are limited to the 2.5L engine in either base trim or Touring trim. Those opting for the 2.0L turbocharged engine must choose between the Touring trim or the top-line Limited trim.

2017 Forester 2.5i Base Trim

Even at the minimum trim level, Forester owners get a host of amazing features that aren't standard on even some luxury vehicles, such as all-wheel drive (AWD).

17-inch steel wheels are standard.

2017 Forester 2.5i Convenience Package

Upgrading your vehicle to the Convenience package adds onto the base trim a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat that includes lumbar support, automatic on/off headlights, steering-mounted paddle shifters for CVT models, a rear armrest with cup holders, a rear spoiler, halogen fog lights, and an adjustable front armrest and console. 

In addition, owners get a cargo tray, a rear Tonneau cover, and upgraded 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

2017 Forester Touring

The Touring package adds onto the Convenience trim by wrapping the steering wheel and gear selector in leather, changing the 17-inch alloy wheels to a machined black finish, installing a power glass sunroof, and upgrading the dash gauges and instrument panel.

In addition, owners receive Dual-Zone Climate Control, a stainless-steel exhaust tip, 6-speaker audio system, power tailgate, roofline spoiler, a windshield wiper deicer function, and reclining rear seats.

2017 Forester Limited

Adding on to the Touring trim's offerings, this top-line package beefs up the wheels to 18 inches, changes front lighting to LED headlights with daytime running lights, adds a chrome front grille, integrates LED turn signals into side view mirrors, increases the infotainment screen size to seven inches, upgrades audio to an 8-speaker Harman Kardon system, adds steering-responsive headlights, and provides heating functions to the steering wheel and rear seats.

On top of these offerings, Limited owners also get a fine leather interior, revised interior trim and steering wheel designs, a memory function for the driver's power seat, one-touch folding rear seats, and a free 3-month trial of SiriusXM and Travel Link.

Safety and Technology Package

Standard safety technology on all CVT-equipped Foresters includes a Brake Override System, anti-lock brakes, Vehicle Dynamics Control and Traction Control, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, and Brake Assist.

An available Technology package can add on reverse automatic braking and a proximity key with push-button start in addition to the following EyeSight® suite of active safety technologies: Pre-Collision Braking, Assist and Throttle Management; Adaptive Cruise Control; Lane Departure Warning; and Lane Keep Assist.

2017 Forester 2.0XT Upgrades

The 2.0XT turbo engine can come in Touring or Limited trims that largely mirror the 2.5i offerings, albeit with subtle appearance modifications and unique features like the SI-DRIVE system, aluminum door sill plates, and a dual steel-tipped exhaust.
