How to Choose Your Subaru Tires
Tires are one of the most important features on your vehicle. When your tires start to wear out, you need to find quality replacements for your Subaru.
In this educational article, we show drivers like you in the Freehold, Farmingdale, and Marlboro area how to choose tires for Subaru models.
Choosing the Right Tire for Your Subaru
The first thing you need to know is what model Subaru you have. This should be relatively simple considering you've been driving it long enough for worn-out tires to occur!
What you need to do now is find out your tire size. This will be listed in your model-specific Subaru manual. From there, you might want to purchase the same brand as your previous tires or maybe you want to take a chance and branch out.
Whatever you do, you need to get the right size tires for your Subaru.
How to Read Your Subaru Tire Size
Tires are listed in metric size, so it can be confusing at first. But once you understand how to read your tire size, you'll be able to easily navigate inventories either online or in-store.
When you look up tire size, you'll see something like 225/65R17. It looks confusing, doesn't it? No worries, we'll help you.
The first number indicates the width of your tire, and it's always a three-digit number. The next number in this series, which is usually after the forward slash, is your tire's aspect ratio. This is the correlation between its height and width. This is usually measured with percentage, so the previous example of 225/65R17 indicates that your tire's height is 65% of its width.
The R that follows your aspect ratio means radial and represents the radials that run across your tire. The last number in our 225/65R17 example is your car's wheel diameter.
Now that you know how to read tire sizes, it's time to pick your tires out.
