Pair Your Smartphone Using Bluetooth

  • Use the resource center on Subaru's website to check your phone's compatibility. Enter the information about your phone model to make sure that it works with your Bluetooth system. Once you've confirmed your phone compatibility, you're ready to pair your smartphone to your Subaru Bluetooth system.
  • Find the talk switch located on your steering wheel and hold it down for three seconds. This activates your Subaru's voice recognition system and LCD screen.
  • When your LCD screen is activated, use your radio control knob to select the language you wish to use. Turn your knob, select language, and press to begin pairing your phone.
  • From the list of languages, press the radio knob to select English. At this point, the word Welcome will pop up on your LCD display.
  • Turn the radio knob to Pair Phone. Press the knob to confirm.
  • Turn the radio knob to Record Name. Afterward, press it to confirm. After the beep, record the name of the phone (e.g., my iPhone).
  • The Bluetooth system will play back the recording. Press the talk switch if you're satisfied then reply with confirm. Now you can pair your Bluetooth system with your smartphone.
  • At this point, the Bluetooth system will have generated a pass key. Go into your phone's Bluetooth settings and enter the pass key.
  • When the system is successfully paired, the Bluetooth system will play an audible confirmation.

How to Enter Contacts

Your Bluetooth system allows you to store phone numbers in its phone book, making it easy to connect with coworkers, family members, and friends.

  • To enter your favorite contacts, press the talk switch on your steering wheel and say Phone Book.
  • The word Listening will appear on your LCD display. At this point, say "Add entry."
  • The word Listening will appear again. Reply "By voice" then say the phone number.
  • Say confirm to save then record the contact's name.
  • Press the talk switch then say confirm to store the phone number.

Making and Receiving Calls

  • Once you've entered your contacts, you can dial by name. Press the talk switch and say "Dial by Name."
  • Say the name your contact is recorded under then press the phone on hook switch, which is on the bottom row of your steering wheel-mounted controls on the left.
  • You'll hear the phone ring through your Subaru's sound system. You can adjust the volume using your steering wheel-mounted controls.
  • To end a phone call, hit the phone's off hook switch, which is next to the on hook switch.
  • To place a phone call using a phone number, press the talk switch. Say "Dial by number" then say the phone number then press the phone on hook switch.
