Fourth of July weekend is just around the corner, and it's a good time to start thinking about where you'll be watching fireworks this year. If you'll be in the Freehold, NJ, area for the weekend, you're just minutes away from the borough's annual Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4. This event has become popular over the years and is expected to draw more than 20,000 attendees this year.

This year's event takes place between 6 and 10 pm at Freehold Raceway Park just off Routes 9 and 33. The festivities kick off with a concert starting at 6 pm. Local families are welcome to arrive at 5:30 pm to get good seats before the concert starts. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy an old-fashioned community picnic with your family while waiting for the fireworks to begin at dusk.

There are other options for viewing fireworks in towns close to Freehold if you're unable to attend the event at Raceway Park:

  • Six Flags Great Adventure will be holding their July 4th Weekend Fest beginning Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5. Spend a day at the park enjoying the rides, attractions, and shows that lead up to spectacular firework displays each night after dark.
  • Take a trip down the shore and head over to Jenkinson's Boardwalk to view their firework display on Friday, July 3 at dusk. Plan to arrive early to find a good viewing spot on the boardwalk.
  • If you''re a baseball fan, come cheer on the local Lakewood BlueClaws on Saturday, July 4 as they take on the Hagerstown Suns at 7:05 pm. Celebrate Red, White & BlueClaws Weekend with their special Ladies Day Saturday promotion and special post-game Fourth of July fireworks show.

Can't make it Saturday night? Come out Sunday night for the 7:05 pm game against the Suns and enjoy their Back to the Future Night before the post-game fireworks spectacular. As an added bonus, all kids 12 and under eat free.

  • Enjoy a full day of Fourth of July festivities on Saturday, July 4 from 10 am to 10 pm at OceanFest and Fireworks. This family-friendly event will be held on the Ocean Promenade between Seven Presidents Park and the Ocean Place Resort & Spa. Admission is free and includes musical entertainment from local bands and entertainment for children. Food and arts and craft vendors will also be available. The event culminates with one of the largest fireworks displays at the shore after dark.

As you can see, there are many great options as to where you should spend your Fourth of July. We at Freehold Subaru would like to wish you a happy Fourth. Make sure to stop by the dealership and test drive a vehicle today!
