The Jersey Shore is a great vacation destination with beaches, boardwalks, and entertaining attractions, and it's where lots of people from the tri-state area go during the summer months. But many people also call the Jersey Shore home.

When you're born and raised at the Jersey Shore, there are a few undeniable traits that make your origins obvious and that you've learned to embrace. Here are five signs that you were born and raised at the Jersey Shore.

1. You Hate the Summertime

It doesn't matter if you're from the northern or southern part of the Jersey Shore, you dread the summer, and it's not because of the heat. As the top tourist attraction for East Coasters, the Jersey Shore attracts everyone from Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New York. Your summers are filled with tourists crowding the restaurants, beach areas, boardwalks, and highways, making it challenging to enjoy local spots in your hometown.

2. You Know What Good Pizza Is

To a true native of the Jersey Shore, pizza isn't just a quick bite to eat; it's a full-blown meal. Usually slices at and around the shore don't just taste better, they're also a lot bigger. Oftentimes, they'll require multiple paper plates, and in some towns just outside the shore they could be as long as half your arm.

3. You Know What a Benny or Shoobie Is

If you were born and raised in the central to northern Jersey Shore area, you know that Benny is an anagram for Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, and New York, referring to the tourists who come from these areas. For those in the southern Jersey Shore area, you know the term Shoobie, which pokes fun at Jersey Shore tourists who wear their shoes to the beach.

4. You're Friends with at Least One Professional Surfer

The Jersey Shore delivers great waves, which brings surfers to the area on top of the tourists. If you're really from the Jersey Shore, you'll befriend at least one professional surfer during a summer.

5. You Never Get Tired of the View

Being born and raised at the Jersey Shore, you'd think that many people would get tired of looking at the sand, water, and boardwalk, but that's definitely not the case. No matter long you've lived in town, seeing waves crash and hearing tram cars buzz will never get old.
