Subaru Russia Creates a Hilarious Pooch and Dashcam Inspired Ad for the Crosstrek

There hasn't been a scientific study performed, but at Freehold Subaru we imagine that more that 70% of Subaru owners also have a dog. The marketing execs must feel this way too, because for years Subaru ads have sometimes been taken over by dogs of all sizes that have great driving skills.

This marketing idea isn't just saved for the American consumer, though! It seems our Subaru driving Russians have also jumped onboard and have found a way to add their own cultural twist: the dash cam.

Dashcams are huge in Russia. When they aren't busy capturing a meteor shoot across the sky they video tape drivers to help avoid insurance scams. Of course this dog isn't worried about being caught, because he took the saying "drive it like you stole it" quite literally!

The car in question that this pooch made off it was the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek. This model arrived in the U.S. for the 2013 model year after spending time overseas. This crossover could be considered the tall, lifted, first cousin of the Impreza, but we still think it's very much its own.

The Crosstrek runs off a 2.0L flat-four engine that delivers 148hp. It has 8.7 inches of ground clearance and a chassis developed with ruggedness in mind. Bluetooth capabilities are standard across all trims and more premium features like Voice Activated GPS Navigation and Sirius radio are available.
