Subaru Crosstrek Review: Model

The 2017 Subaru Crosstrek is a crossover vehicle that has been a part of the Subaru lineup for some time now. The crossover was introduced in 2013 as the sister of the Outback and Impreza models.

Subaru has had a few years to perfect the function of the Crosstrek and make it a true standalone vehicle. The manufacturer has given the Crosstrek a minor facelift for 2017, and this includes better traction, off-road performance, and ground clearance.

Subaru Crosstrek Review: Exterior

The Crosstrek has an edgier appearance than models of previous years. The length of the crossover is 14 feet, with 5 feet and 3 inches of height. The crossover has sharper angles and structured curves, giving it a sleek, rugged appearance. This is likely because this model was made for off-roading, something that Subaru has been working on for a few years. The ground clearance is 8 feet 6 inches, which is impressive for its class. Cargo room ranges from 22 to 51 cubic feet. Xenon headlights, active orange highlights, and 19-inch wheels round out the exterior.

Subaru Crosstrek Review: Engine

The Crosstrek engine is a sturdy 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a continuously variable transmission and 148 horsepower. If you love speed, you can upgrade to a 1.6-liter gas engine or the 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine. The torque clocks in at 145 lb-ft, giving the Crosstrek the power it needs to go 0-60 mph in 8 seconds flat.

Subaru Crosstrek Review: Technology

A 2017 vehicle wouldn't be complete without the latest technology, and Subaru doesn't disappoint. The interior includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen with STARLINK interface. This system is exclusive to Subaru and provides navigation as well as driver assistance.

Use the built-in computer to connect the Bluetooth to your smartphone so you can comfortably use the GPS navigation system. Next check out EyeSight, the name appropriately given to the Subaru driver assist technology. It has features such as lane assist, parking assist, a rearview camera, and much more.

Other techie features include blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, voice activation, and a heated windshield.
